Pumpkin Gourd – Chimarrão Promate | Traditional Mate Cup
This Pumpkin Gourd (Cuia) by Promate is a traditional vessel used for preparing and drinking chimarrão, the classic Brazilian style of yerba mate. Made from natural dried gourd, each piece is unique in shape, texture, and tone, offering an authentic and cultural way to enjoy mate.
Designed specifically for chimarrão (erva mate moída grossa), the cuia allows the yerba to expand properly and helps create the smooth, creamy foam typical of this preparation. It pairs with a bombilla (bomba) and is ideal for both traditional use and those looking to experience mate the way it’s enjoyed in southern Brazil.
 
Before first use, natural gourds require curing to seal and prepare the interior, helping improve durability and flavour over time.
 
🧉 How to Use (Chimarrão Style)
Fill the gourd about 2/3 with erva mate
Tilt to form a slope and insert the bombilla
Add warm water (not boiling, around 70–80°C)
Refill gradually as you drink
