¡Hola!
With the holiday
season approaching we thought you may want to know of up
coming latino events and activities, so here are some
for you to try as the new year approaches. We don’t know
of events outside the Auckland region, so if you know of
any, email us and we will post it in our website!

The Wicked Latino is a man well known about Auckland and
his radio show (which La Pachamama proudly sponsors) is
on 104.9 Planet FM broadcasting in Coromandel and
Auckland on Saturdays at 7:30pm. Wicked latino is a well
known refuge of Latin music an organiser of parties and
latino activities. Listen to his show on Saturday
afternoons to win prizes and to learn about up coming
events!
The
Auckland Spanish Language Meetup Group. Clare Coulson is
the dedicated organiser behind the regular monthly Latin
club meetings. They've shifted around a bit since we've
been going to them but the Meetup message boards on-line
are really useful and provide reminders and updates
about up coming events. It is a good opportunity
to practice your English or Spanish and to meet people
from other places.
CONGRATULATIONS to Dave J. from
Auckland, the winner of December's draw!!! Dave got a
package of our special mate and a very nice gourd!. What
do you do to win awesome prizes? Nothing! Just stay
subscribed to this newsletter and you're in to win!

Ordering in bulk
or without a credit card
Not all customers have a credit card or feel
comfortable using their credit card on-line. Whilst we
use a third party independent e-Commerce provider, the
risks of using a credit card on-line may be more to do
with your own computer than our service. For those who
don’t have a credit card or don’t want to use internet
payments, we also accept payments by cash, cheque and
direct deposit. If you prefer to order in bulk, we are
also able to discuss larger orders and freight options
in this manner.
A study by the University of Illinois, Department of
Food Science and Human Nutrition published in the
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry (2005) found
that mate tea may actually inhibit the proliferation of
oral cancers. Other studies have found that drinking
yerba mate too hot (so that it burns your mouth) may
actually cause cancer; however this is caused by the
burn produced from the hot water and not the
ingredients!
Mate contains xanthenes, which are alkaloids in the same
family as caffeine, theophylline, and theobromine,
well-known stimulants also found in coffee and chocolate
It is also known to contain 196 active compounds: 24
vitamins and minerals, 15 amino acids and 11 polyphenols
(antioxidants). (source).
We take this opportunity to wish you all, a very nice
holiday season and a happy new year
Saludos,
Daniel y Gabriela
